Loving ourselves

So, how much must we love ourselves, to feel good and contented with ourselves before it actually turns to become narcissism? Well, the answer is until you can honestly tell yourself that you wouldn’t want to be anyone else on the face of this earth regardless of any amount of health, wealth and influence in exchange.

Gosh, that would mean pretty much being in love with yourself just like the Greek youth who well, literally died loving himself? Hmm… in a word, yes and no.

Yes, we ought to love ourselves as unique persons – “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these, are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…”

See, we should love ourselves to the point that God loves us. It isn’t hard, really. Just ask yourself even at the lowest ebb of your life… You may just find it surprising that you will be able to say to yourself… “I won’t want to be someone else but myself, despite it all”.

And no, because narcissism is about loving the physical appearance of oneself over what’s deep inside us all. Ah ha! Yes, this is very easy to do also and accounts for the multi-billion dollar cosmetics and cosmetics surgery industries today.

And as we all know and have been preaching it throughout the existence of humanity is that what’s inside is more important than outside… Just that maybe it’s time to start believing in those words instead of merely preaching it.
